- Cove Creek Baptist Church was organized on September 11, 1960 with 18 charter members and Rev. James Coleman as pastor. This work began in a small block building located about two miles north of Pickens SC.
- On September 18, 1960, the members voted to purchase eight acres of land on which the present building sits. It was four years later that the two side wings were added along with three more Sunday School classes and inside plumbing. These additions were made while Lester Collins was Pastor.
- In May of 1968, during the ministry of Zeb McDaris, plans were made and construction began on the parsonage. After R.A. White came as pastor, the church voted to build a fellowship hall with 1,200 square feet. Several years later, the church itself was remodeled inside with completely new furnishings and outside vinyl siding. As the Lord blessed us and we grew, the sanctuary was enlarged, a new choir was built and the baptistery was added. With the church growth, there was a need for a larger fellowship hall. In 1983, a 2,240 square foot addition was made to the building, along with a Pastor’s Study.
- While Dr. Michael Smith was pastor the church sign was erected on Hwy. 178. Also, construction of a new parking lot took place. As the Lord blessed under the ministry of Pastor Doug Russ, a fenced in playground was added, and a bus was given to the church. A second bus has now been purchased through donations given by church members.
- God has continued to bless Cove Creek with the ministry of Pastor Travis Spivey and our heart for missions has grown since he came. The church and Sunday School classes now support many Missionaries.
